WA Greens support Government’s move to legalise voluntary assisted dying and improve end-of-life choices for West Australians

Monday. 12 November 2018

The Greens (WA) support the government’s decision to legalise voluntary assisted dying in WA based on the recommendations from the Joint Select Committee on End of Life Choices.

“I congratulate the government on this move that will improve the quality end-of-life and palliative care for all West Australians," Mr Chapple said.

"At a professional level and after 16 years of lobbying the government and introducing two Private Member’s Bills, I am extremely relieved.

"At a personal level, this feels like the potential for closure after watching the long struggle of my Mother’s suffering and protracted demise.

"I commend the work of the Joint Select Committee and all that participated in providing over 800 submissions and 80 personal hearings.

"I am pleased with the choices for the expert panel, led by the esteemed Malcolm McCusker QC.” Mr Chapple concluded.
